We’ve got a thing for certification (completely platonic, of course, but a thing, even so). You’ll notice when you shop for our products that they come with a whole lot of symbols, all of them a guarantee that we’re doing the kind of things you want us to do and which we expect of ourselves. Important certifications include:
The good folks at BioGro set high standards and we work hard to not only meet them, but surpass them. Whenever you see the BioGro stamp on one of our products, that means it’s ‘Made with Organics’, which is a guarantee that the product contains over 70% organic ingredients. In addition to this, we list the organic and natural percentage of each and every product we make on our packaging.
This is a no-brainer. We just don’t get why anyone needs (or would want) to test their products on animals.
Our products are certified vegan by the UK Vegan Society. You don’t want to make them part of your diet, but we guarantee that your skin will eat them up! Oh, and by the way, our products are gluten free too.
We love our ingredients! We spend a lot of time sourcing them and we make sure we list each and every one of them on our packaging, so that you know what you’re getting.
We know! We know! We bang on about supercritical extraction all the time. It’s front and center on our packaging and in all our product descriptions. But that’s because it’s important to us. In many ways, it sums up who we are and what we’re trying to achieve with our makeup and skincare – namely, to create products which not only look and feel great, but which are truly good for your skin.
So, what is supercritical extraction, exactly? Well, this is where things get a bit sciencey, but in a nutshell, supercritical extraction is a breakthrough in herbal extraction; the cleanest, purest way to extract all of a plant’s goodness and deliver it to your skin.
Here’s a few reasons why it’s so amazing and why we pride ourselves on being world leaders when it comes to using the technology:
- Unlike many other extraction techniques, it’s not reliant on chemical solvents (like alcohol) to extract a plant’s nutrients. Instead, it makes use of a harmless natural gas (CO2) found in the air we breathe and absorbed by plants all around us. The extraction process involves using this natural gas (CO2), which is compressed until it is a semi-liquid. Working at low temperatures, it’s then ‘washed through’ the plant or herb, collecting all of its key nutritive compounds (that’s the really good stuff, the kind of stuff other extraction techniques generally fail to capture).
- Equally important, the extracts are extremely concentrated as they are full extractions, including essential oils as well as other water-soluble and fat-soluble substances from the plants we use. The end product is an extract that is all-natural, wonderfully pure, and super potent (in fact our extracts are often upwards of 50 times stronger than conventional extracts!).
Sciencey, right? Hopefully, the explanation above gives you a little bit of insight into this amazing technology, but all you really need to know is that it delivers the full spectrum of nature’s benefits straight to your skin. Our products don’t just smell, look and feel great, they’re good for you too.
Our Work with Indian Community Farms
This is something which touches our hearts. We source many of our ingredients from community farms in India, where organic farming practices have helped revitalize rural towns and villages; small communities whose very lifestyle has previously been threatened by the overuse of chemical pesticides and fertilizers.
We’ve forged some amazing relationships with our farming partners, visit them regularly, and are always overwhelmed by the pride they take in their land and the ingredients they nurture.
Ultimately, that’s the beauty of our organic ingredients. They’re good for the land, great for the people who work with them, and nothing short of brilliant for the people who put them on their skin!
One Product, One Tree
We’ve got a whole page devoted to this elsewhere on our website, but just in case you missed it, here’s the important stuff, stripped down to one sentence:
Every time you purchase one of our products, we’ll plant a tree.
